Jennifer Bloomfield is a textile designer/maker with a focus on interior pieces and fabrics. Her influences include biophilic design, interactive design, aromatherapy, sensory aspects and their therapeutic effect on those with sensory problems, stress and anxiety. Her multi-sensory work emphasises visual, tactile and olfactory (smell) properties. Interactions with her pieces aim to enhance the wellbeing of users. Her work often uses weaving, embroidery, digital and screen print, as well as natural dyes and materials, such as wool and cotton. Motifs and forms used in her work include landscapes, ‘living walls’ and plant life, such as the growth patterns of moss. Bloomfield aims to allow users to connect users with nature by use of biophilic design aspects, through multi-sensory stimulation, natural materials, scents and imagery.
